IECAVNIEKS FLAXSEED OIL

Each nation has its own specific remedies to prevent premature ageing or illness. The Japanese prefer seaweed, the Chinese – rice, Africans – papaya and pineapple, Scandinavians – deep-sea fish and the French – red wine. Latvians also have their own miracle remedy, and it is flax. Even doctors recommend taking 1–3 tablespoons of flaxseed oil a day. What is so valuable about flaxseed oil?

Flaxseed oil is special because it is the only vegetable oil that contains more Omega-3 fatty acids than Omega-6 fatty acids.

It is important to have the right ratio of Omega-3 and Omega-6 in the human body. Normally it is 1:2, but today’s fast-paced lifestyle not only burns up Omega-3 fatty acids (through stress, high sugar intake, etc.), but also provides undesirably high levels of Omega-6 fatty acids in the body. Since Omega-3 fatty acids are less abundant in everyday foods, it is important to supplement them.

According to medical practitioners and scientists, flaxseed oil is the best natural source of vitamin F. Vitamin F is a source of energy, as is the essential fatty acid complex. Linoleic and linolenic acids are important building blocks of nerve cells, and, above all, they are necessary for the production of prostaglandins, the body’s unique biological regulators. These, like everything else in our lives, can be ‘good’ or ‘bad’. The ‘good’ ones lower blood pressure, dissolve blood clots, reduce inflammation and joint pain, promote scar healing, as well as boost the body’s immunity against viruses and cancer cells. The ‘bad’ prostaglandins do the opposite. Both of these regulatory substances are produced by our bodies from the same raw material, linolenic acid, and the balance between the two is essential to our health.

Flaxseed oil is the only vegetable oil that is also medicinal, and its consumption promotes the synthesis of ‘good’ prostaglandins, and therefore a longer and healthier life.

The fatty acids found in flaxseed oil are also essential for many processes required for human health and life: normal growth, lactation, sexual function, normal formation and replacement of fat in tissues, and the reduction of cholesterol in the blood. Flaxseed is also used as a treatment for digestive diseases – inflammation of the stomach, intestinal mucosa, gastritis, colitis, constipation, etc.

Flaxseed oil should be stored in a dark place, in a sealed container and in a cool place, e.g., in the fridge. Flaxseed oil has a shelf life of 6 months in a sealed container under proper storage conditions.
